Pro-Palestinian protest at Columbia University

Of the 112 people arrested Tuesday in protests at Columbia, 29% were not affiliated with the school, New York City officials said. That breaks down to the arrests of 32 nonstudents and 80 students, Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Edward A. Caban said in a joint statement.

Over the last two weeks, campus protests have escalated, with pro-Palestinian tent encampments set up in public spaces, triggering counterprotests and, on more than 30 campuses, clashes with police.
